What a journey 2022 has been for Christiana Community Ambulance, it has been a difficult year filled with tough decisions that affect our community, our elected Officials, our staff, and our neighboring fire and emergency medical services. We want to thank you for your patience and understanding. We have failed at communicating our struggles and have been out of service countless hours the last several months, but we are happy to announce we are partnering with WellSpan, and you will see big changes coming to Christiana Ambulance.
This partnership will allow Christiana Ambulance to transition our staffing needs to WellSpan and eliminate our staffing issues. WellSpan will lease EMT’s to Christiana Ambulance to cover the daytime shifts, and the evening shifts will be covered by volunteers. Current employees will be given the opportunity to become Wellspan employees. This is a balance we can afford and sustain going forward and here is why. In August we announced our new Chief Corey Gossert, Chief Gossert is an incredible asset to Christiana Ambulance. Chief Gossert has a following of EMT’s, mostly volunteers, that enjoy working under his leadership and are looking forward to serving as Volunteers at Christiana Community Ambulance. Corey has over 30 years’ experience in emergency services, he has held multiple Officer positions over the years including Chief at White Horse Fire & Ambulance for 13 years. Christiana Ambulance will be continuing to recruit more volunteer members, if you are interested in being a Volunteer EMT contact our Chief.
It doesn’t stop there, Christiana Ambulance also has newly appointed Board Members: Tim Zook, Brian Petersheim, Paul Zook and John Beyer have joined Tim Manley and Michele Neckermann on the Board. The Organization still has lots of work ahead of us, but this is the start of something great that has been looked at over the years by previous Christiana Community Ambulance Boards. We just had all the right players at the table and several key community folks, coaching and cheering from the sidelines, to complete this reorganization, which will allow Christiana Ambulance to serve the community properly.
Some of the things that will not change; Ambulances and equipment will be owned by Christiana Ambulance, the staff leased from WellSpan, and volunteers will wear Christiana Ambulance uniforms, we will continue to send out membership drives and we hope to have the ability to participate in more community events.
Transitioning our staffing to WellSpan will occur on November 15, 2022, until that time our service coverage will continue to be spotty. Following November 15, the Christiana Ambulance will be staffed to serve the Community.
